Recipe for Play Putty

You will need :
1 cup of flour
1 cup of water
1/2 cup of salt
1 teaspoon of vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
Food colouring

Mix all ingredients together in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until the mixture holds together (keep mixing or it will stick to the bottom of the pan).

When the mixture is cool enough to touch, your child can knead it on a floured board.

This recipe's long drying time makes it most satisfying as a play dough (it's easy to roll into ropes and balls), but sculptures will dry eventually.

If stored in an airtight container, this dough will last, refrigerated or unrefrigerated, for 2 to 4 weeks.

Recipe for Face Paint

For each colour you will need :
1 teaspoon of water
1 teaspoon of moisturising cream
2 teaspoons of cornflour
A few drops of food colouring

Mix the cornflour with the water in an old yoghurt pot, then stir in the moisturising cream.

Add the food colouring a few drops at a time until you reach the desired colour.

Use a soft paintbrush to apply the paint to your kids' (clean) faces!

Recipe for Bubbles

You will need :
1/2 cup washing up liquid
2 tablespoons glycerine (available at your supermarket/chemist)
5 cups of water (if you have hard water consider using distilled water as soft water works best)

Carefully mix the ingredients together so as not to encourage too many bubbles.

Store in a container, such as a clean plastic juice bottle with a screw top.

The formula is best left over night to allow the ingredients to rest.
