Primary Resources for Pre School and Early Learners

This page features early learning resources for for young toddlers and pre-schoolers.

Younger children need learning to be fun to hold their interest and keep them engaged so the following sites can be used to introduce your toddler to their abc, 123, shapes and colours with great games, downloads and flash cards.

  • Art Attack - Neil Buchanan has been sharing his arty ideas with us since 1989 and the web site has a great selection of projects to get stuck in to with crayons, glue and imagination.
  • BBC Online - the BBC cleverly split their primary resources in to sections which will teach your child different skills, for example problem solving, then uses your children's favourite characters to teach them while they have fun.
  • Chateau Meddybemps - this site provides an excellent collection of activities which include at least one of the different developmental skills a young child needs. Recommended age related favourites are easy to access.
  • Early Learning HQ - an early learning resource for Primary and Foundation Stage teachers, but has many downloadable literary and numeracy games for you to play with your toddler and a fun way to introduce them to learning their abc and numbers.
  • Fisher Price - having learnt a thing or two about children over the years Fisher Price have now included a section on their website with fun games split in to sections for infants, toddlers and pre schoolers. Bright and fun.
  • Fun School - although this is an American site it is well worth a visit and we had a lot of fun exploring the preschool resources that are available and playing the online games. There's a section of printable colouring pages too.
  • Good Sites For Kids - this site looks very basic but is actually a great resource for children which lists a huge collection of fun, educational and interesting sites in useful categories. Fantastic for all ages and it's FREE.
  • Kids.com - priding itself in being a safe place to learn Kids.com is for older kids while remaining approachable for parents so you can keep yourself informed.
  • Kids.com Junior - as a result of the success of the original site, aimed at older children, this one is for the younger members of the family so they can be like their brothers and sisters.
  • Kidz Page - lots of fun stuff for young children to have a go at presented in sections themed by the type of educational activity. There's also easy access to holiday themed things to do and make, for example Christmas or Easter.
  • Story Place - Pre School - an American site billed as the "ultimate children's digital library" with a variety of on line and off line activities for your little ones to get their teeth in to including stories to read and things to make.
  • The Hoobs - scroll down the Hoobs menu page to the All Activities section and you will find a lovely collection of fun things, both interactive and off line, for your tiddlypeeps to do.
