There's a mass market worldwide for children's bedding and it is ever growing with a huge choice of generic and kids character bedding.
In the UK quilted duvet inserts and kids duvet covers are still the main choice when it comes to covering children's beds, although self patterned all-in-one bedspreads/comforters are becoming more popular. These comforters are usually large enough to completely cover the bed from floor to floor and measur, approximately, 180 cm x 230 cm.
Most children's duvet sets consist of a single duvet cover 138 x 198 cm and a single pillowcase, which comfortably fit a single quilt/duvet for a standard 3ft bed.
Junior/toddler bedding sets - a smaller sized duvet and pillowcase - are intended for a starter bed and measure 120 x 150 cm.
Double duvets for children are now becoming easier to find, especially in the more popular character ranges
Their are 3 main qualities of childrens bedding:-
100% cotton - this type is usually the most expensive and keeps it's crispness and quality after many washes. Cotton also helps the body to keep cool as it has great absorbency and is ideal for kids, when the nights are hot.
50% cotton, 50% polyester - this is the most popular mix for chlldren's bedding as it is hard wearing and keeps its colours fresh. The majority of children's character duvet sets are made from this mix.
45% cotton, 55% polyester and 30% cotton, 70% polyester mix are used for the cheaper duvet covers, which tend to be flimsier and rougher to the touch but ideal for kids bedding which will go out of fashion quickly.

There is a whole host of designs aimed at children's interests - space, cars, pirates for the boys - fairies, flowers, shopping and pink for the girls. Children's Character bedding is by far the most popular, especially in the age range 3 - 10 years. Most childrens character duvet sets now have matching bedroom accessories and include double duvets and some provide everything to make a total themed bedroom for both boys and girls.
There are 2 different types, and prices
Panel prints cost between £19.95 - £25.00 - panel prints are printed individually and each cut from a roll of cloth, whilst
Rotary prints cost between £9.99 and £15.00, the pattern is continually printed on a roll of cloth, from which many duvet covers are cut.
